Football: Future stars on display in St. John Bosco-Mater Dei freshman game
There’s been talk that the unbeaten freshman football teams at St. John Bosco and Mater Dei could beat some varsity teams. Well, on Thursday at 3 p.m. at St. John Bosco, the two teams will face off in a game that will have plenty of video cameras rolling to capture the scene.
Mater Dei’s offensive line has several 300-pounders, including Kamuta Levvasa.
St. John Bosco has 6-foot-4 quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who has scholarship offers from USC and Fresno State without having played in a varsity game. Also on the team is Jonathan Vaughns, a receiver-defensive back and younger brother of USC receiver Tyler Vaughns.
It figures to be the size and running game of Mater Dei against the skill-position players of St. John Bosco. Remember the names. You’ll be hearing about them next season.
