Football: Palisades working to compete with Venice
Second-year coach has improved team
Venice enters this season with a 42-game Western League winning streak, but Palisades and second-year Coach Tim Hyde are hoping to challenge the Gondoliers.
Defensive back-receiver Duane McBroom is the Dolphins’ key player, along with junior quarterback P.J. Hurst, who will try to show that his strong summer performances without pads can be repeated when he’s getting rushed.
Junior linebacker Alec Simpson shows potential, and the Dolphins also have several more rising juniors set to contribute.
And don’t forget that Palisades has perhaps the best kicker in the City Section in Ethan Erickson.
