Who could have predicted that with just two weeks left, Harvard-Westlake (6-2, 3-0) would be in first place in the Angelus League?

On Saturday night, a large crowd came out for homecoming festivities at Harvard-Westlake, including former basketball standouts Jason and Jarron Collins, and they were treated to quite a performance from quarterback Noah Rothman, who ran for two touchdowns and passed for three touchdowns to lead the Wolverines to a 35-21 win over La Salle.

Rothman, a former receiver forced to play quarterback after a season-ending injury to Marshal Cohen in the first quarter of the first game, keeps finding ways to make plays. He had a 66-yard touchdown run and a 59-yard TD pass in the first half. He added TD passes to Alex Barnum and Cameron Jones in the second half.

Nicholas Richmond had a big game on defense for the Wolverines with a sack and a couple fumble recoveries.

Harvard-Westlake closes its season with tough games against Cathedral next week and Salesian in week 10.

At halftime, former football standouts Alex Holmes and Jonathan Martin were inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame, along with the late Jim Brink, a former baseball coach, and former football coach Jim O’Connor.
