Football: Servite-Westlake game offers peek into the future
If you want to spot a top 10 team for 2014, go watch Friday’s Pac-5 Division first-round playoff game between Servite and host Westlake. The game will be filled with highly regarded underclassmen who figure to propel each team to prominence in 2014.
Servite starts with junior quarterback Travis Waller (above), recently offered by Washington. There’s also junior receivers Equanimeous St. Brown and Tony Brown, junior linebackers Jack Savage and Justin Parcells, junior cornerback Maurice Davison, junior running back Tate Beachley and junior lineman Clayton Johnston.
Westlake has eight underclassmen starting on offense and seven on defense. Watch junior linebackers Quincy Bennett and Reno Dubreuil, junior cornerbacks Jayln Harrison and Nick Rodriguez, junior defensive tackle Hunter Mattox. sophomore quarterback Malik Henry, junior kicker Kevin Robledo and sophomore running back Chase Jasmin.
Both teams might be a year away from making a Pac-5 final run but the winner could get hot and make it to the semifinals.
