Football: St. Bonaventure turns to a trio of sophomores
There are lots of returning players for Ventura St. Bonaventure, but first-year Coach Adam Guerra is excited about the early impact sophomores Jack Cameron, Ladell Atkins and Casey Roddick will be making.
Cameron is a running back-defensive back; Atkins plays receiver and defensive back, and Roddick is a 6-foot-4, 305-pound offensive lineman.
Guerra, the former head coach at St. Monica, has made a clean break. He sold his house in Los Angeles and bought a new one in Ventura.
“My wife loves it,” he said. “My little boy loves it. Ventura has been amazing. The support has been tremendous.”
Of course, everybody likes a coach who’s never lost a game for St. Bonaventure.
“I’m still undefeated,” Guerra said. “We won all of our passing league games. The offense is humming.”
St. Bonaventure opens its season on Aug. 30 against San Diego Helix.
