Girls’ basketball: Chaminade, Mater Dei advance to rematch in Open Division final
West Hills Chaminade, the only team to defeat Santa Ana Mater Dei this season in girls’ basketball, will have to do it again if it wants to win the Southern Section Open Division championship.
The Eagles advanced to the final against Mater Dei with a 77-66 victory over Long Beach Poly on Friday night.
Leaonna Odom scored 26 points, Valerie Higgins had 19 and Paige Fecske 15.
Mater Dei defeated Alemany, 59-37, with Katie Lou Samuelson scoring 30 points.
Mater Dei is 28-1. Chaminade is 24-3. Chaminade won against the Monarchs, 60-59, in the fourth game of the season.
