LAUSD gives approval to practice on professional development days
Sports teams in the Los Angeles Unified School District will be able to practice and play games on professional development days under a rule change approved earlier this week.
Previously, teams were banned from practicing after school on days teachers had their professional development days, leaving City Section football teams at a disadvantage when they couldn’t practice on Tuesdays like their Southern Section counterparts.
Games also will be allowed but after 4 p.m. when buses become available for transportation.
It has been a request coaches have sought for years.
