Long Beach school board approves stricter transfer rule
High school athletes in the Long Beach Unified School District who transfer within the district without moving will have to sit out one year of varsity competition in a decision made by the school board on Tuesday night.
According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the vote was 4-1 in favor of the new rule that will be stricter than the state CIF rule that requires athletes to sit out a little more than a month for transferring without moving.
There will be an appeals process.
