Softball: Sophomore Aniesa Maulupe hits two home runs to lead Carson to City title
When it comes to possessing home run power, sophomore Aniesa Maulupe of Carson has it all.
On the biggest stage in City Section Division I softball, Maulupe hit two home runs on Saturday, including a three-run shot in the sixth inning, to lead Carson past Chatsworth, 8-4, in the Division I final at UCLA’s Easton Stadium. It was Carson’s second consecutive title and third in four years.
Maulupe, a Long Beach State commit, hit both home runs over the right-field fence.
Chatsworth had a 3-1 lead when Carson scored four runs in the fifth inning. Maulupe’s home run in the sixth broke open the game.
Jessica Robledo picked up the win on the mound in relief.
In the Division II final, Symar defeated Westchester, 1-0. Clarrisa Estevane threw a three-hitter and struck out 12.
In the Division III final, Harbor Teacher College defeated Northridge Academy, 6-0.
