Gonzaga, seeded 11th, took advantage of playing on its home court with a 92-86 upset of No. 6 Iowa on Saturday at Spokane, Wash., on the first day of the NCAA women’s tournament.
Led by Courtney Vandersloot’s 34 points, the Bulldogs (29-4) shot 57% in the second half to beat the Hawkeyes (22-9) in the Spokane Regional.

No. 9 St. John’s 55, No. 8 Texas Tech 50: The Red Storm (22-10), which plays Stanford next, shut down the Raiders (22-11) in the second half at Palo Alto.

No. 1 Tennessee 99, No. 16 Stetson 34: All 13 Lady Vols (32-2) played before halftime in the victory over the Hatters (20-13) at Knoxville, Tenn. Tennessee plays Marquette next.
No. 8 Marquette 68, No. 9 Texas 65: Tatiyiana McMorris made the go-ahead three-point field goal for the Golden Eagles (24-8) with 10 seconds left to beat the Longhorns (19-14) at Knoxville.
No. 2 Notre Dame 67, No. 15 Utah 54: The Irish (27-7), who play Temple next, led the Utes (18-17) by only three at halftime at Salt Lake City.
No. 10 Temple 63, No. 7 Arizona State 45: The Owls (24-8) used a zone to limit the Sun Devils (20-11) to two-for-15 three-point shooting at Salt Lake City.
No. 4 Ohio State 80, No. 13 Central Florida 69: Jantel Lavender had 30 points to lead the Buckeyes (23-9) over the Knights (22-11) at Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State plays Georgia Tech next.

No. 10 Marist 74, No. 7 Iowa State 64: The Red Foxes (31-2), who will play Duke next, took a 20-point lead in the first half to beat the Cyclones (22-11) at Durham, N.C.
No. 2 Duke 90, No. 15 Tennessee Martin 45: After their coach’s fiery halftime speech, the Blue Devils (30-3) outscored the Skyhawks (21-11), 49-14, in the second half at Durham.
No. 3 DePaul 56, No. 14 Navy 43: The Blue Demons (28-6), who will play Penn State next, forced 23 turnovers in the win over the Midshipmen (20-12) at University Park, Pa.
No. 6 Penn State 75, No. 11 Dayton 66: The Nittany Lions (25-9) beat the Flyers (21-12) at University Park for their first NCAA tournament win in seven years.
