Matt Barnes is traded to Memphis Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies acquired forward Matt Barnes from the Charlotte Hornets for guard Luke Ridnour, who later was sent to Oklahoma City.
The Grizzlies announced the trade Thursday, and the Thunder said shortly afterward it had acquired Ridnour and a conditional 2016 second-round draft pick from Charlotte for guard Jeremy Lamb.
The 35-year-old Barnes averaged 10.1 points, four rebounds and a career-high 29.9 minutes for the Clippers last season. He shot 136 of 376 from three-point range.
The former UCLA player has averaged 8.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 779 games over 12 seasons with the Clippers, Sacramento, New York, Philadelphia, Golden State, Phoenix, Orlando and the Lakers.
. The Grizzlies had acquired Ridnour Wednesday for the rights to forward Janis Timma, a second-round draft pick in 2013.

Pedroia (hamstring) goes on DL
The Boston Red Sox placed second baseman Dustin Pedroia on the 15-day disabled list by the before Thursday’s 8-6 loss to Baltimore, a day after he strained his right hamstring.
Pedroia was hurt rounding first base after his go-ahead, two-run single in the sixth inning of Boston’s 5-1 victory Wednesday over the Orioles.
Pedroia is hitting .306 with nine homers and 33 RBIs.
Atlanta Braves right fielder Nick Markakis saw his record streak of 398 consecutive games without an error end in the first inning of Thursday’s game against the Washington Nationals.
Denard Span singled to right field leading off and Markakis bobbled the ball, allowing Span to take second.
Markakis, who signed with Atlanta in the off-season, established the all-time MLB record for consecutive errorless games by a non-pitcher on June 18 — breaking the previous mark of 392, set by Darren Lewis from 1990 to ’94. Markakis had not made an error since on Aug. 10, 2012, while with the Orioles.
The Angels acquired minor league reliever Kyle Winkler from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Marc Krauss.
Winkler, 25, has split this season between double-A Montgomery (Ala.) and triple-A Durham (N.C.), compiling a 1.46 earned-run average in 10 games with 15 strikeouts and one walk in 12 1/3 innings.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound right-hander converted from a starter to a reliever in 2014 and has a 12-14 record and 4.81 ERA in four minor league seasons, with 235 strikeouts and 110 walks in 236 innings.
The left-handed-hitting Krauss played only 11 games with the Angels this season, hitting .143 with one home run and five runs batted in.
USC’s Garrett Stubbs won the Johnny Bench Award, awarded to the top catcher in Division I baseball. Stubbs, a senior, batted .346 and led the Trojans with 20 stolen bases.
At Temuco Peru, a Paulo Guerrero hat trick led Peru to a 3-1 win against Bolivia, securing a place in the semifinals of the Copa America.

Longtime area horse racing trainer Sandy Shulman died last week. Shulman, 78, won two training titles at Hollywood Park and two at Fairplex. He retired in 2010 with 804 wins, 743 seconds and 786 thirds, an impressive 33% in-the-money showing. Among his top horses were stakes winners Thirst For Peace and Champion Lodge.
Authorities in Las Vegas have charged Hall of Fame defensive lineman Warren Sapp with biting his girlfriend, throwing her to the ground and stepping on her head in an April incident that began at the M Resort in Henderson, Nev.
The criminal complaint filed Thursday in Las Vegas Justice Court charges Sapp with three domestic battery misdemeanors.
The accusation is the latest charge against Sapp, who was arrested Feb. 2 in Phoenix for assaulting and soliciting a prostitute during Super Bowl weekend. He pleaded guilty to both charges. The solicitation charge was dropped last month when he completed a
Florida State freshman quarterback De’Andre Johnson has been suspended indefinitely from the team.
Coach Jimbo Fisher announced Johnson’s suspension Thursday for a violation of athletic department policy. The school released no details, but some media outlets reported that Johnson was allegedly involved in an altercation Wednesday night at a Tallahassee bar.
