Chris Paul, Mo Williams don’t play against Jazz

Reporting from Salt Lake City — It was like being at the hospital, listening to Clippers Coach Vinny Del Negro give medical updates on his team.

Chris Paul remains day-to-day after he missed his second straight game because of a strained left hamstring.

Mo Williams shot before Tuesday night’s game, a 108-79 loss to the Jazz, but the backup point guard missed his third straight game because of a sore right foot.

Brian Cook didn’t play in his second straight game because of a sprained ankle, and guard Eric Bledsoe, who hasn’t played all season (right knee surgery), hopes to be ready to play in about two weeks.

Del Negro said Paul has to get some strength back in his hamstring.

“We want to be smart about it,” Del Negro said. “We want him out there as soon as possible, but we also know that there is a lot of games and a long season.”

Williams said he has ordered some custom orthotics and new shoes. He hopes to play this week, either Friday or Sunday.

“I’m getting close,” Williams said.

Clippers, Magic have no deal for Howard

If Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard has added the Clippers to the list of teams he would be interested in being traded to, as has been reported, that was news to both teams, according to several NBA executives not authorized to speak publicly on the situation.

An Internet report said Howard was intrigued by the Clippers, but according to all the executives, the report wasn’t true and the Clippers and Magic haven’t had any discussions about a Howard deal.

Howard’s agent, Dan Fegan, has been given permission to speak with the Lakers, New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks about his client.

The Magic knows that the Clippers won’t trade Blake Griffin for Howard, and Orlando has no interest in Clippers center DeAndre Jordan, according to the executives.

Clippers rank high with NBA general mangers

When NBA.com announced its 10th GM survey Tuesday, NBA general managers that voted had the Clippers listed high in several categories.

Which team made the best overall moves? The Clippers were No. 1 with 85.2% of the votes.

Which acquisition will make the biggest impact? The Clippers acquiring Paul was first with 100% of the votes.

Which team will be the most improved in 2011-12? The Clippers were No. 1 with 66.7% of the votes.

Which team is the most fun to watch? The Clippers were second with 29.6% of the votes; Miami was first (33.3%).

Which player is the most athletic? Griffin was second in the voting with 19.2% of the votes; LeBron James was first (46.2%).

Who is the best power forward in the NBA? Griffin was second with 17.9% of the votes; Dirk Nowitzki (41.1%) was first.

Paul was voted the best passer in the NBA (41%), the second-best point guard (37%) behind Derrick Rose and Paul was voted the best leader with 25% of the votes.
