Peyton Manning, Dan Marino will welcome you to Miami
If you were the greatest quarterback in the history of a team, would you welcome perhaps the greatest quarterback of all-time to come to that team and maybe make you the second-greatest quarterback in team history? If your name is Dan Marino, you would.
Marino, the former Miami Dolphins quarterback, says if Manning has any questions about playing for the Dolphins, he would gladly answer them.
He has enough people “working with him to help him make the right decisions,” Marino said Thursday, but if Manning asks, “I would definitely answer.”
Manning flew to South Florida on Wednesday just after the emotional news conference where he bid farewell to the Indianapolis Colts, who released him rather than pay him $28 million next season. His arrival there led to increased speculation that Miami is No. 1 on his list of teams to play for, though Manning has remained tight-lipped on where he will eventually land.
The Dolphins haven’t really had a marquee quarterback since Marino retired after the 1999 season, being led by the likes of Jay Fiedler, A.J. Feeley and Chad Henne.
