Peyton Manning meeting with Titans in Nashville

Peyton Manning is back where it all started for him -- at least for a look around.

Manning, the former University of Tennessee star, is in that state to meet with the Titans, perhaps the last stop on his tour to visit with NFL teams courting him. According to the Nashville Tennessean, Titans Coach Mike Munchak, along with General Manager Ruston Webster and Chief Operating Officer Mike Reinfeldt, flew to Raleigh-Durham, N.C., on Wednesday morning to fetch Manning, and then the whole group returned to Nashville. Manning has made frequent visits to Duke University in recent weeks to throw with David Cutcliffe, his offensive coordinator at Tennessee.

The Titans are believed to be one of four finalists for the services of Manning, along with Denver, Arizona and Miami.

Tennessee is a surprise suitor, though, considering the Titans used the No. 8 pick last year on Washington Huskies quarterback Jake Locker, and they got good play out of veteran Matt Hasselbeck last season.

Titans owner Bud Adams has made it clear that he considers signing Manning the team’s top priority. What’s more, the Titans are hoping to sign Pro Bowl guard Steve Hutchinson, who last played for Minnesota, and that could help persuade Manning too. They’re close friends from their annual Pro Bowl trips.
