Small-college quarterback sets NCAA passing record with 736 yards

&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;And on Sunday, Sam Durley rested his right arm. He likely needed ice.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The quarterback for Eureka (Ill.) College, a Division III school, passed for an &amp;lt;runtime:topic id=”ORSPT000122”&amp;gt;NCAA&amp;lt;/runtime:topic&amp;gt; all-divisions record 736 yards Saturday in a 62-55 victory over Knox at Galesburg, Ill.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;And the Red Devils needed every yard, scoring 17 unanswered points to win the game. The video above is the record-setting pass, and you can hear the Knox crowd is none too happy, one fan claiming the ball was trapped on the ground.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;Durley completed 34 of 52 passes for five touchdowns. The final two scoring strikes came in the last two minutes. The previous record of 731 yards passing was set by Menlo College’s Zamir Amin in 2000 against Cal Lutheran in another Division III game.&amp;lt;/p&amp;gt;&amp;lt;p&amp;gt;The record-breaking throw Saturday came with 20 seconds left when Durley connected with receiver Jake Bane on a 13-yard touchdown pass to seal the victory.
