Aaron Rodgers to start for Packers at Chicago

Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to start at quarterback for Green Bay in a winner-take-all game at Chicago on Sunday.

Rodgers missed the Packers’ last seven games after suffering a fractured collarbone in a Nov. 4 loss to the Bears.

The winner of Green Bay-Chicago will be the NFC North champion, while the loser is eliminated from postseason contention.

Packers Coach Mike McCarthy announced the Rodgers decision during his regular Thursday news conference.

“Aaron Rodgers is our starting quarterback,” he said. “The goal was to have it announced on Tuesday, but that did not happen since it was not conclusive at that point.”

Asked if it’s risky putting Rodgers back on the field, McCarthy said: “Every football player has risk, we all understand that. But we’ve done our due diligence and all the evaluations.”

The Packers went 2-5-1 without Rodgers.

Chicago, meanwhile, will start Jay Cutler, who 1-7 against the Packers.
