Lakers falling behind statistically

The Lakers have the worst record in the NBA at 0-3, slightly below four other teams at 0-2 (Detroit, Boston, Sacramento and Denver).

Of course, the Lakers are the only team to have played in three games over the four nights of this season, a difficult task given the team’s injuries.

Coach Mike Brown is working in a new offense. As a group, the Lakers have spent less time going over defense.

In comparison to the rest of the league, the Lakers are 18th in points per game at 97.3 but third in field-goal percentage (49.8%).

While the shooting percentage might suggest the offense is clicking, the team is 21st in assists per game (20) but second in turnovers (19.7).

The Lakers are also the ninth-best three-point shooting team at 38.3% but 25th in free-throw shooting (63.7%).

Defensively the Lakers are allowing 106.7 points a game on 47.6% shooting, ranking third and 27th, respectively.

The team is also putting their opponents on the free-throw line with 26.5 fouls a game (28th).

The Lakers are also one from the bottom in steal differential (four). While the team generates 6.3 steals a game, the Lakers’ opponents are forcing 10.3.

The individual numbers make sense. The Lakers are struggling but the one stat that stands out more than any other is the 0-3 record.
