Lakers’ Jordan Hill out for the season with hip injury
The Lakers will lose Jordan Hill for the remainder of the season with a hip injury.
According to a team release, Hill underwent an anthrogram test Friday, revealing the forward-center has “loose fragments in addition to a possible labral tear.”
The injury will require surgery, although Hill is expected to get a second opinion before going under the knife. He was examined Friday by team doctor Steve Lombardo and hip specialist Dr. Jason Snibbe.
Hill signed a two-year contract this past off-season for $7.1 million. He’ll be paid a total of $3.56 million this season.
The Lakers will lose one of the most prolific offensive rebounders in the league. Playing just 15.8 minutes a night, Hill has averaged 2.8 offensive boards a game.
The Lakers will probably turn to Earl Clark and Antawn Jamison in Hill’s absence.
