Ed Davis has hit nearly all of his shots for Lakers in preseason

The Lakers brought in 6-foot-10 forward/center Ed Davis this offseason on a two-year minimum contract worth $2.1 million (with a player option on the second season).

Coming off the bench through four exhibition games, Davis has impressed -- hitting 15 shots from the field in 19 tries.

At 78.9%, Davis is leading the NBA in field goal percentage for players who have taken at least 19 attempts.

Coach Byron Scott has Davis playing behind starter Jordan Hill. Scott recently noted that Davis will exclusively play center (and not power forward) for the foreseeable future.

Scott has platooned Davis with third-year center Robert Sacre, who is averaging 6.2 points and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 45.5% from the field in 16.2 minutes a game.

Davis is averaging 7.5 points and 3.8 rebounds in 16.0 minutes. The 25-year old is also leading the Lakers with 1.8 blocks a game.

In a starting role, Hill has put up respectable numbers at 8.6 points and 8.4 rebounds in 22.2 minutes a game, while shooting 54.5% from the field.

Based on his preseason efficiency, Davis could serve as Hill’s primary backup, ahead of Sacre once the regular season kicks off.
