The following message was recently sent by Lakers owner/executive Jeanie Buss to season-ticket holders:

Dear Lakers Season Seat Holders,

As we embark on our first season since the passing of Dr. Jerry Buss, the brilliant guiding hand of the Lakers for 34 years, we are confident that the template he created will serve us well as we move our organization forward.

While last season ended in disappointment, that will not stop us from the goal of seeking to put the best talent possible together and strive for excellence both on and off the court, with the ultimate goal of being in the championship hunt again. And although we weren’t able to fulfill Dr. Buss’ dream of seeing us win our 17th NBA title, I am confident that when that day comes, he will be watching over us with pride.

Our basketball operations department has put together a roster for the upcoming season that we’re excited about. The acquisitions of Jordan Farmar, Nick Young and Wesley Johnson give us increased youth and athleticism, and Chris Kaman brings an experienced former All Star to our front line. Joining together with future Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash, as well as Steve Blake, Jordan Hill, Jodie Meeks and the rest of our players, we feel we have a deep and solid team that will be both competitive and fun to watch.

As we move forward, my sister Janie, brothers Johnny, Jim, Joey, Jessie and I promise to do our best to fulfill our father’s legacy, and to give you an organization to be proud of because we understand that the Lakers truly belong to you, our great and loyal fans.

Sincerely,

Jeanie Buss
President/Governor
