Pau Gasol out for Lakers’ game Wednesday, maybe Chris Kaman too

SACRAMENTO -- Pau Gasol will sit out Wednesday’s game against the Sacramento Kings because of a severe recurrence of vertigo.

He returned to action Tuesday after missing four games because of dizziness and nausea but was relegated to his hotel room Wednesday after feeling similar symptoms.

Gasol had nine points and four rebounds in the Lakers’ 124-112 loss to Portland. He said afterward he experienced lingering effects of his illness while making turns on the court and said he might have come back too soon.

Gasol traveled to Sacramento with the team on a charter flight immediately after Tuesday’s game. He was to return to Los Angeles when he was able, either Wednesday night with the team or on a commercial flight Thursday.

Chris Kaman might also sit out Wednesday’s game because of a strained right calf. He will be a game-time decision.

Gasol and Kaman started against Portland alongside each other without much success, combining to make 10 of 25 shots while getting only 10 rebounds.

If neither Gasol nor Kaman can play against Sacramento, Jordan Hill or Robert Sacre probably will move back into the starting lineup along with Ryan Kelly.
