Steve Nash a game-time decision...again

It will sound familiar to Lakers fans.

Steve Nash is a game-time decision Sunday against the Orlando Magic because of recurring nerve damage in his back that presents itself as weakness in his hamstrings.

Nash, who turned 40 last month, had 11 assists in 19 minutes Friday in the Lakers’ 117-107 loss to Washington. He also had five points and took four rebounds but had to leave with 2:14 to go when his irritated nerve acted up.

“It’s the same problem he’s had,” Lakers Coach Mike D’Antoni said Saturday. “We’re trying to be cautious but we haven’t found a solution.”

Maybe he logged too many minutes Friday.

“Well, obviously,” D’Antoni said. “But it could have been the same after five minutes. You just don’t know. He said he felt great after the first half and then he felt great after that little [third/fourth-quarter] stint so then he went back in and just right at the end...”

Nash hadn’t played since Feb. 11 and was declared done for the season the previous week by D’Antoni. He returned to action because Jordan Farmar was sidelined by a strained groin, leaving the Lakers with one healthy point guard (Kendall Marshall).

Nash did not practice Saturday and did not talk to reporters.
