LeBron James is out tonight at Portland, expected back Wednesday
PORTLAND, Ore. — LeBron James has been downgraded to out for Monday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers because of left ankle soreness, but coach Darvin Ham expects the Lakers’ All-Star forward to play Wednesday night at home against New Orleans.
James, who was listed as questionable on the injury report Sunday, will miss his third consecutive game. He last played against Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, when he broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s NBA scoring record to become the league’s all-time leader with 38,390 points.
The Lakers also listed Anthony Davis (right foot stress) as probable.
Lakers center Mo Bamba, who was acquired in a trade with the Orlando Magic in exchange for Patrick Beverley on Thursday, is out while serving an NBA suspension. Bamba was suspended for four games without pay for his role in an on-court altercation with Minnesota guard Austin Rivers.
Bamba is eligible to play for the Lakers on Wednesday night against the Pelicans. That will be the Lakers’ last game before the All-Star break.
James, an All-Star Game team captain, was seen in Portland going through an on-court workout.
