Former Lakers guard Javaris Crittenton facing serious legal charges
Former Lakers guard Javaris Crittenton continues to have legal problems.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Crittenton has been given a curfew by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shawn Ellen LaGrua for “allegedly intimidating the prosecutor of his case.”
Crittenton was charged with murder in the “2011 shooting death of Atlanta mother of four Julian Jones. He’s also accused of shooting at Trontavious Stephens days earlier -- both cases of misdirected retribution at a rival gang.”
The curfew requires Crittenton to “remain in his home from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. each day until trial.” He’ll also wear a 24-hour ankle monitor.
The Lakers drafted Crittenton with the 19th overall pick in 2007. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008 as part of the deal to land the Lakers’ Pau Gasol.
With the Washington Wizards, Crittenton was involved in a high-profile confrontation with Gilbert Arenas involving guns in the locker room -- resulting in a season-long suspension.
Still just 25 years old, Crittenton hasn’t played a regular-season NBA game since 2009. He was last with the Dakota Wizards of the NBA D-League in 2011.
Crittenton is facing a long list of charges including “murder, felony murder, criminal attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, gun possession during the commission of a felony and participation in a criminal street gang.”
