Magic Johnson auctioning off Lakers tickets, dinner invitations
In this economy, most people simply have so much money that we don’t know what to do with it all.
It’s become too easy and affordable to buy a home. Paying for college feels like nothing more than feeding a parking meter. Getting a job seems as easy and stress-free as it is to sleep in on the weekends.
So of course plenty of folks nowadays have the cash at their disposal to bid $25,000 or more to ensure receiving courtside Lakers tickets and having dinner with Magic Johnson.
Oh, wait. Nevermind. Our economy actually is in shambles.
But that shouldn’t prevent at least some well-heeled Lakers fans from bidding for the chance to see a game near where Jack Nicholson sits and to hang out and break bread with perhaps the most popular Laker of all time.
The effort supports the 13th Annual Art for Life Benefit in connection with Rush Philanthropic. Founded by hip-hop pioneer Russell Simmons, the foundation provides access to inner-city youth at art exhibits featuring underrepresented artists. Bidding is open through Aug. 8 at charitybuzz.com.
