Lakers improve to 1-1 with summer league victory over Blazers

The Lakers, playing their second summer league game in Las Vegas, improved to 1-1 on Sunday with an 81-63 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Lester Hudson led the Lakers with 15 points on five-of-eight shooting in just over 22 1/2 minutes of action.

Marcus Landry contributed 14 points, and while he shot just five of 14 from the field, he led the Lakers with a plus-minus of 26 points. Landry, brother of Sacramento Kings forward Carl Landry, has the look of a possible camp invitee for the Lakers.

Lazar Haywood also had a strong showing off the bench with 13 points on just five shot attempts (four for five from the field and a perfect five for five from the line).

As a group, the Lakers shot just 36.4% from the field, while giving up seven additional offensive rebounds to the Blazers (18-11).

Still, the Lakers pulled out the victory, forcing 22 turnovers and 23 personal fouls from the Blazers. Portland took just 12 free-throw attempts, while the Lakers hit 26 of 33.

C.J. McCollum had 15 points for Portland on six-for-17 shooting. Meyers Leonard was the only other Blazer in double figures, with 12.

Robert Sacre scored eight points with eight rebounds in almost 29 minutes.

After losing the first quarter 20-10, the Lakers dominated the second with a 25-10 run -- followed by a 22-18 third quarter. The Blazers never really threatened to get back in the game, despite the Lakers’ poor shooting percentage.
