Watch Nike tribute to Lakers star Kobe Bryant
In honor of Kobe Bryant’s return Sunday night from an Achilles’ tendon injury, Nike paid tribute to Bryant in a commercial.
Narrated by Ice Cube, the spot praises Bryant for the two free throws he converted in April against the Golden State Warriors after he suffered the injury:
If he never got up, he’d still be called a hero. And if he hadn’t stepped back on to the court, he’d still be a Hall of Famer. And if he didn’t hit those free throws, he would still go down in basketball history. And if he never came back to the game, he’d be a living legend. But he wouldn’t be Kobe Bryant.
Bryant and Nike unveiled his latest signature shoe Wednesday, the Kobe 9.
