Oddsmaker: Lakers’ long odds to win 2014 title get longer
The Lakers’ odds of winning the 2014 NBA title took a tumble with the exodus of center Dwight Howard.
According to gambling website Bovada, the Lakers are a 40-1 shot to win the championship next season.
The team’s odds on June 21 were 22-1 while the Houston Rockets’ were 20-1. Now that Howard will be joining the Rockets, their title odds jumped to 10-1.
Meanwhile, the Clippers are also at 10-1, jumping in that same time frame from 18-1.
The Miami Heat is still the leader at 2-1 while the Oklahoma City Thunder is the favorite to get out of the Western Conference at 6-1.
The longest of odds fall on the Orlando Magic and Phoenix Suns, tied with 300-1.
