Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris back to D-Fenders for season opener
After the Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, the team reassigned rookies Ryan Kelly and Elias Harris to the D-Fenders of the NBA Development League.
Both were recalled from the D-League on Thursday, joining the team for the game against Golden State.
With the move, which was expected, Kelly and Harris will play in the D-Fenders’ season opener Saturday against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo.
After their D-League debut, the forwards will undoubtedly be recalled by the Lakers for Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center.
Through 13 games, Kelly and Harris have combined for a total of just 18 minutes. Time with the D-Fenders will give both rookies a chance to actually get out on the court and play.
On Friday, the D-Fenders announced their opening day roster, which features a well-known former Laker in Kareem Rush. Other familiar names include forwards Jamario Moon and Malcolm Thomas.
