Pirates put third baseman Jung Ho Kang on the disabled list

Third baseman Jung Ho Kang was put on the 15-day disabled list by the Pittsburgh Pirates because of a left shoulder injury.

Kang probably will sit out from two to four weeks.

He was injured while sliding headfirst into second base in the eighth inning of Pittsburgh’s 6-5 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday.

Outfielder Carlos Gomez was signed Saturday by the Texas Rangers to a minor league contract and assigned to triple-A Round Rock.
