Pirates put third baseman Jung Ho Kang on the disabled list
Third baseman Jung Ho Kang was put on the 15-day disabled list by the Pittsburgh Pirates because of a left shoulder injury.
Kang probably will sit out from two to four weeks.
He was injured while sliding headfirst into second base in the eighth inning of Pittsburgh’s 6-5 loss to the Miami Marlins on Friday.

Outfielder Carlos Gomez was signed Saturday by the Texas Rangers to a minor league contract and assigned to triple-A Round Rock. Gomez, a Gold Glove center fielder with Milwaukee in 2013, hit .210 with five home runs and 29 runs batted in with the Houston Astros. ... Third baseman Luis Valbuena could be lost for the season to the Astros after experiencing a setback in his quest to return from a right hamstring injury. ... Catcher Matt Wieters was put on the paternity leave by the Baltimore Orioles. Wieters left the team Saturday to join his wife, Maria, who is due to give birth to the couple’s second child.
