Robin Ventura is done with White Sox
White Sox Manager Robin Ventura comes out of the dugout before the game against the Minnesota Twins on Oct. 2.
Robin Ventura said Sunday he will not return as manager of the Chicago White Sox.
General Manager Rick Hahn is scheduled to make an announcement Monday.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported Saturday that bench coach and former Chicago Cubs manager Rick Renteria probably will take over.
Ventura had a 375-435 record in five seasons with the White Sox, who finished 78-84 this year.
Results of drug tests are destroyed
Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said the results from MLB’s 2003 anonymous survey drug tests have been destroyed.
Manfred revealed the information while at Fenway Park for David Ortiz’s regular-season finale with the Boston Red Sox.
Ortiz was among 104 players who allegedly tested positive, more than enough to trigger the start of testing with penalties in 2004. Identities of four players were leaked to media outlets and never confirmed: Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez and Sammy Sosa.
Ortiz said in 2009 that supplements may have caused a positive test.
