LeBron James, Kevin Love lead Cleveland past Detroit, 102-93

LeBron James broke Scottie Pippen’s NBA record for career assists by a forward and Kevin Love tied a career-best with eight three-pointers for 24 points and as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied in the second half to beat the Detroit Pistons, 102-93, on Tuesday night at Auburn Hills, Mich.

James finished the game with 11 assists for 6,142 for his career. Pippen had held the top mark of 6,135 since taking it from John Havlicek in 2004.

James, who had 19 points, nearly had an odd triple-double, turning the ball over nine times, one short of his career high. Kyrie Irving added 18 points for Cleveland, which has won 17 of its last 19 games.

Reggie Jackson had 22 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in his second game with Detroit, while Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 21.

Golden State 114, at Washington 107: Stephen Curry, who had missed his last start for the Warriors with a sore right foot, came back to lead all scorers with 32 points in nearly 34 minutes of play. Klay Thompson had 17 points and Marreese Speights added 16 off the bench for Golden State, which has won five of six. Paul The Wizards shot 53.2% (42 for 79), and outrebounded Golden State, 45-29, but committed a season-high 26 turnovers.

at Oklahoma City 105, Indiana 92: Russell Westbrook had 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the Thunder’s seventh straight win. Westbrook claimed his third triple-double of the season and the 11th of his career, despite resting for the entire fourth quarter. Oklahoma City won its third straight without Kevin Durant. The reigning MVP had a screw replaced on his surgically repaired right foot on Sunday, and he is to be re-evaluated within a week. The Pacers won three straight.

at Dallas 99, Toronto 92: Monta Ellis scored 20 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 18 as the Mavericks hit seven of their first 10 shots of the fourth quarter. The victory was Dallas’ third straight, its longest winning streak since early January. DeMar DeRozan had 18 points to lead the Raptors, who lost their third straight. Dallas’ Rajon Rondo sat the final 20 minutes after having words with Mavericks Coach Rick Carlisle during a timeout.
