Westbrook’s 48 and Durant’s 43 fuel Thunder win over Magic
Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant have delivered plenty of highlights during their NBA careers.
Their latest stole and then saved a game the Orlando Magic seemed poised to win.
Westbrook banked in a three-pointer from just inside midcourt at the end of regulation on his way to 48 points, Durant scored 43, and the Oklahoma City Thunder rallied to beat the Magic, 139-136, at Orlando, Fla., in double overtime Friday night.
Westbrook also added 11 rebounds and eight assists. Durant finished with 12 rebounds.
Orlando had a chance to tie it with six seconds to play, but twice had three-point attempts blocked by Durant.
“This game helped me a lot. Just being able to play a double-overtime game, and just getting used to that again,” Durant said.
at Cleveland 102, Miami 92: Cavaliers’ LeBron James scored 29 points as he, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh played in the same regular-season game for first time since they were Heat teammates.
Utah 99, at Philadelphia 71: The Jazz used multiple 13-0 runs to build a 32-point lead.
Toronto 113, at Boston 103: Raptors’ DeMar DeRozan scored 23 points and Terrence Ross had 13 of his 21 in the fourth quarter.
at Detroit 98, Chicago 94 (OT): The Pistons scored the first seven points of overtime and are 3-0 for the first time since winning their first four games in 2008-09.
at Atlanta 97, Charlotte 94: Dennis Schroder made the Hawks’ two point-guard lineup look good by scoring 14 points.
Washington 118, at Milwaukee 113: Bradley Beal scored 14 of his 26 points in the fourth as the Wizards rallied from a 13-point deficit.
at San Antonio 102, Brooklyn 75: Kawhi Leonard had 16 points and the Spurs regrouped after a sluggish start.
Minnesota 95, at Denver 78: Karl-Anthony Towns had 28 points and 14 rebounds as the Timberwolves earned another road victory.
Golden State 112, at Houston 92: Reigning MVP Stephen Curry of the Warriors heard the crowd frequently chant “MVP! MVP!” to the Rockets’ James Harden, but Curry outscored him, 25-16.
at Phoenix 110, Portland 92: Eric Bledsoe scored 22 points, Brandon Knight added 18 and the Suns pulled away in the second half.
