Up next: Sparks have a chance to close out a playoff series against Chicago Sky in Game 4
SPARKS AT CHICAGO SKY
When: Tuesday, 5 p.m. PDT.
Where: Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Ill.
On the air: TV: ESPN2.
Update: The Sparks had a chance to sweep the best-of-five series on Sunday, but the Sky’s 70-66 win cut their advantage to 2-1 in the series. Guard Courtney Vandersloot led the Sky with 17 points in Game 3, while center Imani Boyette added 13.
The Sparks couldn’t get a balanced scoring effort in Game 3: WNBA most valuable player Nneka Ogwumike led them with 22 points, but point guard Kristi Tolliver was the only other player to score in double figures, with 13.
Candace Parker scored just nine points on three-for-14 shooting from the field. The bench production that boosted the Sparks in the first two games was virtually nonexistent as Jantel Lavender, with six points, was the only reserve to score in Game 3. The Sparks-Sky series winner will face the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA Finals after the Lynx finished a sweep of the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.
