Rams hire Skip Peete as running backs coach

Rams Coach Jeff Fisher has filled another vacancy on his staff.
Skip Peete has been hired to coach Rams running backs, a person with knowledge of the situation said Friday. The person requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about personnel moves.
Peete, who turns 53 on Saturday, replaces Ben Sirmans, one of three offensive assistants whose contracts were not renewed after the season. He takes over a position group that features Todd Gurley, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after rushing for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
Peete, the brother of former USC and NFL quarterback Rodney Peete, coached NFL running backs for 17 seasons in stints with the Oakland Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and, most recently, the Chicago Bears in 2013 and 2014.
The Bears did not retain Peete after the 2014 season.
Peete’s hiring comes less than a week after Fisher hired Mike Groh as receivers coach and passing game coordinator. Groh was the Bears’ receivers coach the last three seasons.
