The Rams’ plan to sign all of their free agents from their secondary might have hit a snag Sunday.

Cornerback Janoris Jenkins fired his agent, a person with knowledge of the situation said. The person requested anonymity because they are not authorized to speak for Jenkins.

Cornerback Trumaine Johnson, safety Rodney McLeod and safety/linebacker Mark Barron also are unrestricted free agents, and Rams Coach Jeff Fisher and General Manger Les Snead said last week at the NFL scouting combine that re-signing all of them was a top priority. Snead also said that the Rams were scheduled to meet with agents for the players during the combine, which ends Monday.

Under NFL rules, players must wait five days after they fire an agent to hire another.

Jenkins, 27, was a second-round draft pick in 2012. He has 10 career interceptions, including three last season. Jenkins and Johnson, who intercepted seven passes last season, are candidates for the lone franchise tag, which must be designated by Tuesday.

The one-year salary for cornerbacks who get the franchise tag is expected to be nearly $14 million.

The Rams are about $60 million under the $155.27-million salary cap heading into the new league year, which begins March 9.

Agents for players can negotiate with other teams – but not sign contracts -- during a 48-hour window that begins March 7.
