Update: The Galaxy’s playoff push could gain some additional momentum if midfielder David Beckham is able to play for the first time in a month. Beckham returned to training last week, but he hasn’t appeared in a game since Sept. 1 because of a sprained left ankle. The Galaxy, which clinched a postseason berth a week ago, began the weekend tied with Real Salt Lake for second in the Western Conference after being unbeaten in its last six games. With four games left and only one point separating second place from fourth in the standings starting Saturday, the Galaxy can’t afford a letdown if it hopes to secure the home-field advantage for the first round of the playoffs.
