College basketball: UCLA women stop Oregon State’s 12-game winning streak
Jordin Canada had 18 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 17 UCLA beat No. 10 Oregon State, 66-56, on Friday night, snapping the Beavers’ 12-game winning streak.
Down five after three quarters, UCLA outscored the Beavers, 25-10, in the final quarter.
Monique Billings added 17 points for the Bruins (12-4, 3-2 in Pac-12 play) while Kennedy Burke had 10.
Gabriella Hanson led Oregon State (15-2, 4-1) with 13 points. Marie Gulich contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds.
“I thought we brought a really strong effort tonight,” Oregon State Coach Scott Rueck said. “UCLA was really impressive. They made some big plays in the fourth quarter. We just didn’t shoot the ball down the stretch. It’s the Pac-12 on the road and it’s tough. Give credit to UCLA, they played a great game.”
at Oregon 59, USC 53: Sabrina Ionescu scored 17 points and had seven rebounds as the Ducks (12-5, 2-3) rallied in the fourth period to beat the host Trojans (10-6, 1-4). USC was led by Sadie Edwards’ 23 points but the Trojans squandered a 16-point halftime lead and scored only 17 second-half points.
