Dodgers’ Matt Kemp leaves game with shoulder pain

Matt Kemp exited the Dodgers’ game against the San Francisco Giants after two innings Friday night after experiencing pain in his left shoulder during his first at-bat

After swinging and missing at a pitch during his second-inning plate appearance, Kemp grimaced, dropped his bat, and immediately reached for his left shoulder.

He finished the at-bat, and the inning, but was then replaced by Carl Crawford.

Kemp was examined by Dr. Ken Akizuki of the Giants, and after consultation with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the Dodgers’ team physician, the outfielder was diagnosed with an “irritated A-C joint.”

The discomfort was not in the area of Kemp’s previous surgery on the same shoulder.

Kemp received an injection in the area and was listed as day-to-day.
