CC Sabathia joins Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports agency
New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports, the agency announced Thursday.
“Roc Nation Sports is excited to welcome CC Sabathia to the family!” the agency touted in a simple statement posted on its website underneath a photo of Sabathia and Jay Z apparently signing contracts.
Sabathia joins former teammate Robinson Cano of the Seattle Mariners at Roc Nation Sports, as well as Oklahoma City All-Star forward Kevin Durant, New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz and New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith.
The 33-year-old left-hander is under contract through 2016 at $23 million a season, and the Yankees have an option for 2017 at $25 million. Sabathia can be bought out in 2017 for $5 million.
Sabathia, who went 14-13 with a career-high 4.78 earned-run average last season, acknowledged the signing on Twitter with the same photo as shown on the Roc Nation Sports site.
