Clippers informed that power forward Glen Davis will join them
Glen Davis informed the Clippers on Sunday that he will sign with them, according to an NBA executive who was not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.
Before the Clippers played the Oklahoma City Thunder, Coach Doc Rivers said he had a “hunch” about where the power forward would play.
Davis, who got a buyout from the Orlando Magic on Friday, won’t clear waivers until 2 p.m. PST Sunday.
He will join the Clippers in New Orleans on Monday night for their game against the Pelicans or in Los Angeles for their game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night at Staples Center, the executive said.
Davis was on the Boston Celtics team that Rivers coached to the NBA championship in 2008 and lost in the NBA Finals to the Lakers in 2010.
Davis will give the Clippers help in the front court as a backup to power forward Blake Griffin and center DeAndre Jordan.
Davis averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 30.1 minutes per game with the Magic.
