Wife of Donald Sterling not expected to attend Clippers game in Oakland
It appear as if the Clippers had one less distraction to worry about for Game 6 on Thursday night against the Golden State Warriors.
Donald Sterling’s wife, Shelly, wasn’t expected to attend the game in Oakland, Clippers officials said.
Shelly Sterling attended Game 4 in Oakland on Sunday after the news had come out about an audio of Donald Sterling’s making disparaging remarks about African Americans.
Shelly Sterling attended Game 5 at Staples Center on Tuesday night after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had banned Donald Sterling for life from the game for remarks in recordings that were released in the last few days.
Donald Sterling also was fined $2.5 million by the NBA and Silver wants other NBA owners to force him to sell the team.
After Game 5, Clippers Coach Doc Rivers said he thought it was a “nice gesture” that Shelly Sterling came to that game.
But when asked Wednesday if having Shelly Sterling at more games was a distraction, Rivers said, “Yeah, it could be.”
After the Clippers had their shoot-around in San Francisco on Thursday, Rivers was asked again about Shelly Sterling attending that night’s game.
“I haven’t been involved in that at all on this one,” Rivers said.
