Fred Couples used his captain’s picks to select 20-year-old Jordan Spieth and Webb Simpson to fill out the 12-man American Presidents Cup team. Spieth is the youngest American to play in the Presidents Cup.

Couples chose Spieth over Jim Furyk and Dustin Johnson. Furyk had been on every American team since 1997.

The Presidents Cup is Oct. 3-6 at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio. The Americans have a 7-1-1 lead in the series. Their only loss was in 1998 at Royal Melbourne.
