Watch Lance Stephenson blow in LeBron James’ ear during Game 5

Indiana shooting guard Lance Stephenson had a solid night statistically on Wednesday, with 12 points, five assists and five rebounds during the Pacers’ 93-90 victory over Miami in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals.

But it was Stephenson’s intangibles that really helped the Pacers extend the series against the Heat.

You know, those intangibles you’re always hearing about when pundits are discussing athletes -- things like sneaking into the other team’s huddle or blowing into the ear of your opponent, who just happens to be the best player in the NBA.

OK, so maybe those examples aren’t the intangibles most players bring to the table. But those are some of the strategies Stephenson employed to help his team win a do-or-die game.

Of course, it probably helped that Stephenson’s teammate Paul George had 37 points and 13 rebounds. And foul trouble may have had more to do with Heat superstar Lebron James’ subpar night (seven points, two rebounds and four assists in just 24 1/2 minutes).

“I made a couple in the fourth, but 24 minutes is not enough time for me to make an imprint on the game,” James said.

He added: “I’m just trying to win. We need one more win to get to the finals. That’s my only concern. All the extra stuff, whatever Lance wants to do, I don’t really care about that.”
