It seems that Lindsey Vonn has created her own 24-hour news cycle, with daily and sometimes hourly reports on her quest to be healthy for the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Now the U.S. Ski Team has announced that she has been cleared to begin downhill training in preparation for this week’s World Cup races at Lake Louise, Canada.

“A decision on her participation in downhill competitions Friday and Saturday, along with super G on Sunday, will be made after the final official training session Thursday,” the statement said.

The American ski star badly injured her knee early this year and spent the summer recuperating from surgery. This fall, she partially tore a reconstructed ligament during a training run.

Dr. Bill Sterett, the women’s team doctor, and coaches monitored her progress as she returned to the slopes in Vail, Colo., last week. They say the knee remained stable.

Vonn has said that she remains hopeful about making it to Sochi. The Games begin on Feb. 7.
