Ryan Getzlaf, wife welcome baby girl
Ryan Getzlaf has produced an uncommon hat trick just one game into the Stanley Cup playoffs.
A goal, a gash and a baby girl.
The Ducks center and his wife, Paige, welcomed their third child, daughter Willa, to the
world at 12:36 a.m. Friday.
Getzlaf didn’t attend Friday morning’s skate at Honda Center, but Ducks Coach Bruce Boudreau
said he’s playing tonight in Game 2 of the Western Conference first-round series against the Dallas Stars.
Getzlaf scored a goal in the Ducks’ 4-3 Game 1 victory and suffered a nasty gash under his
mouth in the closing seconds by standing in front of a shot fired by Dallas’ goals leader Tyler Seguin.
“He’s a leader, our captain and none of us expect anything less,” Ducks center Nick Bonino said. “It’s that time of year.”
Chris Getzlaf, Ryan’s brother, posted a photo of the damage on his Twitter account, with numerous stitches required to close the wound. The photo was retweeted 5,589 times as of Friday at 11:33 a.m.
