Niall Horan of One Direction to caddie for Rory McIlroy at Masters
It’s not often that the ultra-traditional Augusta National Golf Club and pop music have anything in common.
That will change on Wednesday when Niall Horan of the boy band One Direction caddies for Rory McIlroy.
Horan will take his turn on the bag for the par-3 contest that precedes the Masters each year.
“He’s never been to the Masters,” McIlroy said. “I caught up with him in Australia at the end of last year and he was really excited, and I said, ‘If you’re available Wednesday afternoon and you want to carry the bag for nine holes, you’re more than welcome.’”
The pre-tournament contest has a decidely casual feel, with family members tagging along. Tiger Woods planned to have his children with him.
“It’s nice to be able to share these things with my family and it just means the world to me,” Woods said. “They are excited, I’m excited and can’t wait to go out there.”
