Charlotte Bobcats President Rod Higgins puts his son on waivers

This might make for an awkward holiday season: Charlotte Bobcats President Rod Higgins had to release his son, Cory, from the team over the weekend.

“When you make a decision like that to sign your son, you know a day like this could always happen,” the elder Higgins told Yahoo Sports. “The player realizes the same thing. The personal aspect is the personal aspect. But when you take the next step and realize it’s a business, you always know this could happen.”

Cory Higgins was averaging 3.7 points and 0.9 assists and was a backup to the backup point guard on a team that needs more size.

“It’s part of the business,” Rod Higgins said. “The human factor? The conversation is probably more in-depth with Cory than another player. That is just human nature because of our connection.

“He doesn’t stop being my son,” he said.

Well, let’s hope not anyway. Of course, if he gets tired of him as a son, he could trade him out here for a Kardashian to be named later.
