Silfverberg, Hagelin get Ducks’ qualifying offers

The Ducks announced Monday they’ve issued qualifying offers to their forwards Jakob Silfverberg and Carl Hagelin and centers Chris Wagner and Michael Sgarbossa, all prospective free agents.

The move allows the Ducks to negotiate with the players through the summer for either a one-season renewal or a multiyear contract extension.

Silfverberg signed a one-year deal worth $850,000 before last season, and stands to make far more in this deal after producing a 13-goal, 39-point regular season and 18 playoff points while playing mostly alongside second-line center Ryan Kesler.

Hagelin, acquired Saturday from the New York Rangers for forward Emerson Etem and two draft picks, had 17 goals and 35 points with the Rangers last season and is seen by the Ducks as an upgrade from forward Matt Beleskey, who’s expected to leave the team soon after the NHL free-agency period begins Wednesday.

Wagner received playoff experience when Nate Thompson suffered a shoulder injury, and Sgarbossa was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche at the March trade deadline but didn’t play with Anaheim.

The Ducks also announced Monday that they’ve bought out the final two seasons of the three-year, $3.8-million contract that defenseman Mark Fistric signed in January 2014.

Fistric suffered through back pain last season and played just nine games with the Ducks in that campaign.

Additionally, Anaheim declined to issue qualifying offers to goalies Igor Bobkov and Ryan Faragher, center Louis Leblanc and forwards John Kurtz and Antoine Laganiere, making them unrestricted free agents.
