Slap on the wrist for Johnny Manziel puts Aggies back in title hunt

So now we can call him Johnny Halftime?

Texas A&M; quarterback Johnny Manziel will sit out the first half of Saturday’s home opener against Rice, according to multiple media reports.

And that’s it?

It appears that way. The NCAA interviewed Manziel for several hours over the weekend to determine whether he accepted money in exchange for autographs but reportedly could not prove it.

It appears his controversial summer saga is over unless concrete evidence materializes.

The decision puts Texas A&M; right back in the national title chase. Manziel became the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy last year when he amassed more than 5,000 total yards in leading the Aggies to an 11-2 win and a Cotton Bowl victory.

All eyes again focus to the Nov. 14 showdown in which Alabama plays at College Station. Texas A&M; handed Alabama its only defeat last season in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide recovered to win its second consecutive national title and third in four years.
